Creating Information products

I have been on several calls in the past with folks who used FreeConferenceCall.com, I always thought, "How lame, aren't these folks in business, why are they using this free thing?"

Every time I received one of these FreeConferenceCall.com call numbers and participant codes, I thought, "Who would use that for their business?"

Although I still think it is not good for businesses to send to their customers, I have found it's sweet spot.

I have been listening to several podcasts on iTunes about information product creation. iTunes offers a lot of good content on Internet marketing. There is alot of junk in there as well, so you kind of need to know a little something before you wade into the iTunes podcast waters for Internet marketing information. On the podcasts several companies are mentioned over and over; one of these companies is FreeConferenceCall.com.

I signed up for an account today with FreeConferenceCall.com to check it out after several recommendations from information product creators on these Internet marketing podcasts.

FreeConferenceCall.com offers some great additions for the podcasters or information product producer. You can record conference calls and you can download a file with the audio. The service obviously provides you conferencing services which allows you to get several experts on the line at once. A RSS feed with the conference calls is also automatically created.

When using FreeConferenceCall.com you are given a non-Toll free number. So this is a problem, unless you want to pay for the long distance charges. However using Skype is the obvious choice for making this call. Until year end 2006, you can use Skype to make free calls in North America.

Information product creators can produce their products faster by planning their product, finding experts in the field, getting them on FreeConferenceCall.com, recording the call and selling the MP3 file on their web site for $69. Although that is the abbreviated version, that's basically how it's done.

From a recorded conference call, additional information products can be created by transcribing the audio into a document and selling the eBook or printed book of the content. From a single event, you could come out with 4 or 5 information products that you could sell for $69 - $1,500. All using the same content buy different formats.

eLance.com is a great web site for finding outsourcers who can offer services such as transcribing. On the eLance site, you present your project and other people bid on doing the work. The eLance service offers a project workspace where files can be shared and becomes a go between in handling payments and such. eLance is a great site for finding talent around the world to supplement your efforts.

Companies such as lulu.com have made the one off printed book business a possibility for the home publisher. After uploading your PDF content, you are offered many book printing options. Hardback, paperback, eBook, digital download, CDs are all creatable with the lulu.com service. You create the product and lulu.com handles the sales and fulfillment, sending you a check for your portion of the sale. Although lulu.com offers to list your product in their directory, it really is up to your to advertise and promote your product.
